To Peng Jian Zhong, “child” is no doubt a meaningful symbol. In 《Who comes into his mind》, he used a fledgling approach to create a ruminating expression, a teenager in grief, confusion, and lost in the process of growing up, which are results of imagination and self infliction. The feeling of lost after search or the other way around may be forgotten by images of entertainment and pleasure; however, when we have expectations for people, the pain and sorrow will reveal again. Peng Jian Zhong observes directly at this pain, and creates emptiness in the painting to suppress the overall atmosphere. The clash between the self and the complicated world in the teenager’s heart is shown. Not only so, the self image during puberty shows a group consciousness; a perspective that questions the world and gives the viewers inspiration and shock.
Among the younger generation of Chinese artists, Peng Jian Zhong outstands in his focus on spirits. His artworks are full of self realization surrounded by a bereaved atmosphere. He is good at narrating like an autobiography in his distinctive language, and compared the solitude and helplessness in his growing experience with the basic evolution in the human world and proceeded to question the future.
