Born in Shenyang, Liaoning province, Cai Zhisong graduated with an M.F.A. from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2001. He is currently a resident in Beijing. He was awarded the Taylor Prize in 2001. Solo exhibitions have been held in Beijing and Shanghai. Selected group exhibitions in clued: “China Contemporary Arts European Itinerant Exhibition” (2001, Europe), “Today’s Chinese Fine Arts Exhibition” (2003, Millennium, Beijing), “China Imagination – China Contemporary Sculptures Exhibition”(2004, Palais Du Louvre Square, Paris), “Cai Shisong and Feng Feng Exhibition(2005, Art Scene Gallery, Shanghai)”, “The First China Contemporary Arts Annual Exhibition”(2006, China Millennuum, Beijing), In Cai Xhisong’s works, the images of Pre-Qin Figures are presented in a modernistic style. The fine processing method not only irradiated the material’s aesthetic sense, but also transmits a kind of peaceful and solemn classic artistic conception.
