Exposition:

The professional training Tsai Zhi Song received at the academy was stemmed from Western Sculpture Realistic language, but his《故國Detached motherland》series have detached themselves from Western sculpture in terms of structural design and dynamics.
The characters in 《故國》are neither narrative nor close to life.  Unlike Greek sculptures, which all have mythology backgrounds, the characters of Tsai Zhi Sung do not belong to a particular era, nor do they belong to certain divine Gods.  The characters of Tsai Zhi Sung are personified, symbolic and communized.  His train of thoughts surpasses a particular era, a historical figure, or an event yet they reflect a more sophisticated national spirit. Therefore, the characters can be regarded as symbols of Chinese spirit and culture.  What we see in 《故國》 is the passing of a country , it represents the past history, culture, the proclivity and spirits of a nation.
