ZHONG CHENG

祁海平 QI HAIPING (b.1957)

Born in Jilin, China. After graduating from Guangxi Art Institute in 1982, he continued his studies under a French expert, Claude Eville, before entering a postgraduate course at the Central institute of Fine Arts in Beijing which he completed in 1991. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor at Tianjian Academy of Fine Arts and one of the members of China Artists Association. Recent exhibitions attended include ” East + West - Contemporary Art of China”, 2002; “Century Demeanour-Exhibition of China’s Contemporary Art Masters”, 2002, Beijing, China; “2nd Beijing Inter- national Art Biennale”, 2006, Beijing, China; “Lines - Chinese Abstracts”, 2007, Shanghai, China. He has held his solo exhibition in Washington (2001) and Germany (2003). He was also awarded the bronze medal in the 9th and 10th “National Fine Art Exhibition” and a prize for the “3rd Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition”. His works have been published by several national magazines, and collected byThe National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, Guangxi Museum, and Hong Kong University Museum.
