“Glass Blossom Series” is one of the transitional representative works of Yuan Xiaofang. From the early period politics criticism to recognizing and embracing contemporary people culture, Yuan Xiaofang cleverly shifted her perspective, replacing suppression with expectations, pessimism with optimism in order to express the close relationships with the generation she is living in.
Through the cultural symbols and under the dazzling and stylish appearance, the viewers will realize that the author not only wishes to be satisfied materialistically, but also a spiritual recognition of the new culture. As Yuan Xiaofang perceived, the human body is a container, and every micro level is a reflection of society, the reflections come in different patterns and markings. Almost everyone is constraint by materials, materialism created with the name of fashion continues to spread and vary. Under those glamorous appearance and fragile nature, it also appears gorgeous and touching. The painting shows confidence and also a silent warning; it carries the reflection of the spirit and also an imagination of a better future.
