Artist born around 70s and later climbs up as mainstream by end of 90s are generally called as “late 70 paintings”. These groups of painters consist of “the Cruelties of Youth” by Yin Zhao-Yang & Xie Nanxing and “Comics” by Li Ji Kai and Ou Yang Chun. Influenced by his living background, a society with active market economics and fully diversified consuming cultures, Li Ji Kai paintings are features with light-hearted imaginary expressions with single-color wild-spread background with no further explanations. He also builds a specific type of atmosphere departed from reality life and heading towards inner feelings or daydreaming environments. As a master in this painting style, the empty space in his works often bring closer the audiences to his invented figures and be able to observe more into their delicate yet reserved facial expressions and body posture. Boys are painted as cartoon creators normally lack some sort of unique identities and detailed information of their individual background; however this type of paintings does not particularly include any specific individual groups, yet they simply realize their own ideas about “human beings”.
