Exposition:

The background in Yuan Xiaofang’s works in the static green mountains and waters that are always in the warm blue tones. The painting also shows the mountains and waters graceful curve so that we can feel they’re full of tender feeling and very passive. However, the bombers formed by hard straight line and black are quite different, which are moving and dominant. The appearance of the bombers let us think about the western soldiers bombing the third world countries; land by the bombers. In Yuan Xiaofang’s Flying Plan, the artist perfectly turned the abstract cultural contradiction into the concrete images, and also wisely expressed the modern people’s subtle and mixed feelings…the bomber’s outer coverings which were hard and cold give us a very strong material feeling and imply a kind of threat and disaster atmosphere. The mountains and waters in the paintings are soft like silk and especially striking, which also just form a strong visual contrast with the bomber’s hardness and coldness. We can only see the bombers, the mountains and waters, and cannot see the persons, which let us have a kind of confused feeling and get lost.
