Exposition:

When other Chinese artists were obsessed with inclining to the west, Ye Yong Ching insisted on rejecting westernization and modernization. Instead, he went the other way around and focused more on self-examination. Greatly influenced by Western masters in the early period, especially Cezanne, Pittura Metafisica Chirico, and Surrealist Dali, the artist presented his creations in the forms of dreams, placing himself in different spaces. Carrying out a visual effect with symbols, and worked freely with the arrangement of imagery language. He has start of his own confession, the artist’s voice becomes his concern and materials are only at his disposure, as a medium of imagery language. In  Life Extension, the picture is divided to present the yin and yang, using strong and contrasting colors and collage techniques to create a dream-like situation. The religious symbols are the combination of images from the dreams which subjectively projects the fear and imagination of life and death.
