Ren Xiao Lin’s paintings combine the surrealist and symbolist worlds. The paintings are surrealist not only shown in the effects but also during the painting process- an unconscious movement of the painter, as if the painter is dream walking. Ren Xiao Lin’s paintings are like dreams, as there are no rules or logic to follow. The scenery is covered with clouds and fogs, the characters are walking in dreams, the colors are not only asymmetrically collaged together, they even looked like colors just squeezed from the tube. There are no rules for composition; anything could happen in Ren Xiao Lin’s creation, he draws whatever comes to mind. This is similar to graffiti whereas the artist could imagine and unleash the inspirations on the boundless area.
