ZhongBiao’s paintings have a distinct documentary style subject matter. He adds light or strong colors on the background sketches in many of his artwork; this is his trademark that can be immediately noticed at first glance. Although such techniques can result in simplicity or stereotypes, as we have seen with many artists using this style for practice and drafts, Zhong takes it to a higher level. He furthers this technique by making it an important visual source in the mainstream. However, on closer inspection, we find that his basic attitude in painting is still traditional, reflected in this careful depiction of figures, objects and background.
