Since the 1980s, Zhu De Qun interpreted Rembrandt van Rijn’s “Lighting” and at the same time he emphasized on Chinese traditional painting’s form and meaning. He incorporated a variety of skills and more sophisticated ways of expressing colors; his artwork trespass the elements of time and culture and brought out a harmonious poem. Western art inspired Zhu De Qun to make a breakthrough and became more liberal in painting style. However, the foundation lies in Chinese culture and is the origin of his inspiration. Wu Guan Zhong said “Zhu De Qun’s artworks look like western paintings in a distance, but when you closely look at them, they belong to the Chinese culture… his abstract painting is not constrained by concrete objects. Zhu pursues the combination of spatial depth and concrete melody, and brings both elements to perfection.” Zhu De Qun's prolific creativity and unique art language is a representative of the blend of East and West, and has brought Chinese modern art into a new chapter.

《Rouge B》, created in 1989, has yellow, orange, tangerine and red as the base colors to bring out the layers of visual melody. Along with the pattern or falling in pitch and rhythm of Chinese calligraphy and the application, dyeing, brushing and rubbing skills of Western oil painting, the artist has skillfully combined the dots, lines and color blocks to bring out an indistinctly light and majestic atmosphere. The center dark blue color blurs the sight as though you can see through the boundless universe and accumulate the energy from the origin of life. The energy explodes in one amazing blow, it’s rich and powerful. The artist’s brushstrokes are sometimes smooth and slow; sometimes strong and majestic. The lights echo each other and shine as though eternity has become a moment. Zhu De Qun has passed the barrier of classic and modern; blended the east and west and presented concrete form and abstract atmosphere. He is indeed the art master of a generation.
