LOUIS VUITTON was established in Paris France in 1854. Their brand story began with the beloved travel trunk. It was in 1837, a young Louis Vuitton arrived in Paris by foot and started apprenticing for Monsieur Maréchal. At the time, horse-drawn carriages, boats and trains were the main modes of transportation, and baggage was handled roughly. Travelers called upon craftsman to pack and protect their individual belongings. Louis Vuitton was among them, he created customize design boxes and trunks for high society client to transport their precious belongings in style.

In present day, a Louis Vuitton travel trunk is much more than just a luggage. It is foremost a timeless piece that represent the nostalgic and romantic idea of getting on a train or French steamer trunk. Louis Vuitton trunks signify a glamourous time of travel. Today, they are more likely to be found gracing a richly appointed living room, adding uniqueness to any space they are put in. Whether they’re vintage or slightly used, these trunks grow more appealing overtime. What people want to see are the stories they tell. Trunks with stickers showing they crossed the Atlantic on a steamer in the 60s are sometimes more valuable than new trunks. It is more than a fashion statement, but a historical piece.
