Zhang Jie presently as the dean of Sichuan Fine Arts Academy. His affinity to the painting elements and his interests in the method of working is more intensive than that of the natural scenery. In another word, his painting is not to ask what the scenery is. But to integrate the entire element by scenery, and dissect the sceneries by element. Since he has received academic education for a long time, with a rich cultivation of art study, he is not only able to understand rules and subtitles of strokes, but is also aware of the flexibility in strictness needed in controlling the whole structure of a painting.

“Giving a motive to painting, that is to speak out one’s desire via the objects in the world. Painting is originated from two different worlds-the already known world in the bottom of one’s heart. Artists’ works always originate from the impulse and need in their spirit. The association of painting has been transformed into a unique part of everyone’s mind. The colors and images they choose are not only to help the artists th eliminate the parts they want to discard but also make the objects become lively things in their hearts. Painting also helps us to set ourselves free from the restriction of our own.”
