The year 1989 was a very special one for Tzuchi Yeh. He gained his MFA degree from Brooklyn College of CUNY in that year. His father suddenly passed away in the autumn of that same year. From then on, the atmosphere of mourning, the intrusion of death, and the theme of loneliness in a foreign land has always appeared in his paintings.In the series “Monolog-Distance of Nostalgia”, the theme is a consistent unity. A single object becomes the principal on the stage speaking its monolog the creates a mystic atmosphere against the background. This reveals a lonely and isolated feeling. To him, nostalgia is a flavor, an impression and a color.
