The well-known American scholar and curator, Mr.Wu Hung, called Mr. Chen Xinmao the experimental artist of “Post-Cultural Revolution” generation. At an early age he followed his father to study calligraphy and Chinese painting. The influence of this early stage embodied many of his later works. For instance, his beautiful history textbooks: the Fuzzy printing series contain history books that are eye-catching and fixed in the corner of the drawing board, but also partly hidden in the painting that is mainly green and black. Now he continues to explore how to integrate different materials such as wood, paper, bamboo, etc., to carry out abstract art creation. In the past two decades, he has been committed to building the concept of “lining rhythm”. This theory has injected the music and rhythm to his work. It is the exploration of triple combination of style, concept and medium. His paintings further confirmed that even traditional art as solemn as ink painting can also be understood with the changing modern artistic language.
