Huang Gang has been interested in Tibetan culture, religion and arts and started to collect the Tibetan classical artifacts. He also studied the social, religion and philosophical context of his Tibetan collection. Later on, he created a series of artworks with Tibetan scripts in an innovation way, and his paintings were renowned for their semi-abstract interpretations of ancient motifs. Infused with symbols and scripts from Tibetan culture, are and religion, the works nevertheless appear decidedly contemporary with their substantial textures and striking combination of colors.
