Born in Beijing, Hong Ling’s painting style combines western and Chinese landscaping paintings to become the most meaningful cultural phenomenon in the history of modern landscaping. Toward the end of the 1980s and 1990s, Hong received wide attention from the arts circle for his unique oil painting style. He has joined exhibitions and art activities many times at home and abroad. “Creek and Pome” is an oil paint that incorporates the beauty of Chinese ink. The layout of the painting is emphasized using C strokes and the verdant scenery of China is depicted through his choice of color and landscape. The dampness of the mountains and water give an overall image not bound by time. The light and shadow and focal perspectives are discarded while the western oil paint technique and oriental strokes mark the junction between spirituality and nature; abstract and concreteness; and reality and figurative distortion. He has devoted his life in creating “Chinese oil paintings” known only to the east.
