Chen Wenbo is regarded as one of the most important contemporary young Chinese painters; his art is based on city life and popular culture. As of late, he has taken to enlarging everyday life objects as the subject of his paintings. “Maijong” depicts details from everyday objects from everyday objects that either emit or reflect light. Despite lacking a plot and script, the works still hint at some kind of narrative. Through subjective revision Chen Wenbo communicates the narrative, meaning and emotions to views.
