Hong Lei represents the awkwardness and unwillingness of all literates. He used his daydream to explain and clash, or even dreams to commemorate and desire those feelings. Hong Lei is an artist that cannot live without dreams; he needs to dream to support his everyday life. In his narration: “to me, the process of creation is like day dreaming to me. How do I comprehend the ego in real life or in my dreams, this search is like a fear of the existing fear and it is an overwhelming burden. Therefore, if there are no dreams, then lives will become intolerable and happiness will vanish, hence existence is incomplete.  Shu Ben Hua said we are lucky that our dreams are divided into daydreaming and dreams, not only so, dreams connect us.

“For Hong Lei, traditions are elegant and indispensible; the contemporary is the sorrow presented in the Chinese poem “I think of heaven and earth, without limit, without end. And I am all alone and my tears fall down.” Tradition and contemporary meet in his dream and brought about the affection and sorrow in Hong Lei’s work. “
