The content of Yeh Chu-Sheng’s works mainly comes from his personal experiences and observations when living abroad and in Taiwan. From the union and separation of people, things, places and objects in the world, Yeh discovered a hidden, mysterious interactive relationship within this phenomenon of change and later concluded the creative subject of – “Order”, for example the natural order i.e. Seasonal changes, the pull of gravity and sunrise, sunset etc. On the other hand, “Disorder” refers to the phenomenon of alienation such as changes in personnel and nature. In particular after he returned to Taiwan from Spain, he noticed that infrastructures were increasing in the city due to the growth in economy which brought about large-scale destruction onto the natural landscape. Subsequently there was an imbalance between man and nature and this has a tremendous psychological impact on him. Thereby, he utilized natural materials which were abandoned or left behind by man after destruction as his creative sources. By re-arranging them on the canvas, thus creating dialogues between them, Yeh took the opportunity to reflect on his personal destruction in nature and to make complaint on man’s vandalism on the environment.
