Honest and down-to-earth, like his personality, Zhan Jin Shui’s artworks show a deep affection for Taiwanese local culture. Returning from Europe, he worked hard on searching for Taiwanese cultural facets, and visited many acclaimed historical sites and rural townships. All he wanted was connecting childhood memory in a rural village with contemporary advanced Taiwan. He thought about how to present attainment in Taiwanese humanities through the perspective of Western art. With his life experience as the core and enlightenment from visiting as support, he represented the relation of man versus ocean. He used personalized texture and coloring to demonstrate local culture. This special texture not only gives a pleasant surprise in describing Taiwanese island type climate. It also enhances the weariness tone present in his artwork. 《Lanyu- The Orchid Island》and《Peng Hu Fish Market》are the representative works of 1992.
