“Simply put, the direction of my artwork shows my premeditation and thoughts. I will not intentionally deal with surprises, or some specifics and subtlety in my process of creating. cInstead, I show them without reservations. I admit there are surprises in my artworks, but these are all expected, or let me put it this way, they are inevitable surprises.”
- Yang Shu

Known as the daring talent of Sichuan Arts Academy, Yang Shu has profound thoughts and uses abstract expressionism as his sources of inspiration.  He paints layers on large coarse canvas, and then graffiti as the theme.  Abundant abbreviated symbols and marks appeared in“Patty and Jimmy”, with black lines and rock elements interweaving , a aggressive and challenging graffiti language, red or black symbols on the slightly brown and white area. Like painting the wall with thick white gypsum powder, the piece of art gives the picture a new dynamic.  Even though such patterns are sporadically scattered on the canvas, a new force prevails and unites them, detaching it from traditional composition.  Conflicting forces give a powerful force which gathered and then focus again.  Making the forms gravity-less and suspended in air, no support from the bottom neither from the edges of the canvas.
