Ho Kan is one of these founders. For 35 years after studying modern art in Milan, Italy within the Western art circles, painting has been his sole income. As the eldest student of Li Chun-Shan, the innovator of Taiwan modern art, Ho Kan has carried on Li’s spirit and ideas of consistency in painting with modern expression. Ho Kan constructs his painting from compositions of such geometric shapes as triangles, circles and rectangles. At the same time he adds rich layers of color, creating a contrast and echo of real and unreal, static and dynamic.
