Named after the Chinese poem “Song of the Merry Plateau” composed by Tang Dynasty poet Dufu. “Filled with desolation, making the poetry-Feng Zikai Poetic” kept the composition of Chinese modern literature. Xue Song added pop art along with images to pay respect to the famous artist Fang Zip Kao and his “Classical poems , New Paintings” series. Dufu wrote the poem in 751 with deep affections, he had ambitions but his talents were wasted: he longed for companionship but it never happened. He expressed his concerns for the people and his country in the poem. 10 decades later in 1947. Fang Zip Kai, who lived in an era of turbulence, had brought up the idea of using the atmosphere in classical poems to reconstruct the great persistence of artists. Years later, Xue Song communicated with the past in his unique language, he chose topics like calligraphy and landscape paintings as the composition elements of the image. Along with the elements, he used debris to contour the object and added modern printing skills into the tranquil classical landscapes. Three eras, each representing a historical reflection toward the passing of time, and the displacement of space created a shocking new implication which is the social reflection and thoughts of the artist.

“Xue Song, a talent in seeking inspirations from ancient paper piles, had dedicated his life to connecting materials that look irrelevant in life to reality. However, after his intricate handing of the materials, they are presented to the viewers in a brand new look. In the past year, he has diverted his attention to the comic series of Chinese contemporary scholar and artist Fang Zip Kai. It is a continuum of the art series which he gave classical pomes new meanings. Feng Zi Kai’s comics are legendary in Chinese art history: he used simple and practical brushstrokes to contour the ordinary life. Citing from the past, looking from the small, everything was thought provoking. “Classical Poems, New Paintings” is one of Feng Zi Kai’s comic series

; he lived in an era when nationals were busy fighting the Japanese. He recited the ancient poems, giving them new meanings. Today, in the 20th century, once again Xue Song reinterpreted and rearranged these poems. With his unique perspective and interpretation, he had expressed the care and persistence an artist has for the nature, society and people.”
