On his returning in 1946, Sadji was appointed by Xu Beihong as a professor in Beiping Special School of Art, but he failed to work there for his poor health. Afterwards, he lived in seclusion for a long time at his hometown. His schizophrenia cast a dark shade over his gaily life but did not weaken his zeal for art. There, he worked silently for more than 30 years and created thousands of works with simple tools. In early 1980’s, Sadji renewed his oil painting, gradually recovered his usual art technique. During the 10 years between 1980 to 1990, with the arrangement of the government, relatives and friends, Sadji went successively to scenic spots in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and North-east China to tour and sketch, and created a lot of works with symbolic implication. His works of this period, with forthright brush work and unsophiscated color, having some features of Impressionism and Expressionism on the basis of realistic style, show the artist sharp eye of observation and rich imagination, expressing both of his love for the Nature and his wonderful ideal of life and society.

The free combination of a dish of fish, vegetable and an oddly shaped glass vessel is obviously not still life carefully arranged. Sadji seems to be able to express his own feeling with facility through this arrangement. He treats the space still life is placed with abstract color blocks full of stimulation, showing the wild characteristics of Fauvism and expressionism.
