Tzu Chi Yeh, graduated from Western Painting Group Department of Fine Arts of Chinese Culture University in 1981, was enrolled to serve the army in august of the same year. He founded with passion the “101 Modern Art Gropu” and presented his first exhibition in end of May 1983 with realist paintings of soldiers as the main subjects.

Tzu Chi Yeh’s father was born in the beginning of 20th Century. He was an educated literati but was drafted to serve the army in Burma. It began the homeless and torn apart fate of Yeh’s family. Therefore, to Tzu Chi Yeh, soldiers come with a special meaning and emotions involved. In the duo canvas《The Army Officer》, the artist presented two contrasting standing poses; blue and yellow; the salute pose; and classical aesthetics principles. The artist has also incorporated delicate and glamorous techniques from Tempera and oil painting. The above characteristics are examples of the artist unrestrained talents and skills.
