Mount Liupan  -  Mao Ze-Dong
The sky is high, the clouds are pale,
We watch the wild geese vanish southward.
If we fail to reach the Great Wall we are not men,
We who have already measured twenty thousand li.
High on the crest of Mount Liupan
Red banners wave freely in the west wind.
Today we hold the long cord in our hands,

Xue Song’s artwork provokes thoughts. The burnt books proclaim the perish and birth in life, probe directly into the cultural focus in society and visualizing international problems into our daily lives. Xue Song commercialized the overwhelming popular culture and insisted on the seriousness of his art, his personal art style is steady and stern. Xue Song extended classical masterpieces as his inspiration, he focuses on the form. On the surface, it looks like mere forgery, yet in fact, the artwork includes Chinese traditions and contemporary influences, and with different materials, the artist is therefore able to express different sophisticated images. 

 

When shall we bind fast the Grey Dragon?

 

This is a well known poem to the people. For decades, 《Mount Liupan》, one of the representative poems of Mao Ze Dong, was sung in praises of the people. Mao Ze Dong reached the peak of Liupan Mount and looked down from above. He realized that beneath the grandiose landscapes of Northern China lies the arduous journey in the long march. Now, everything has become history, what happens to those who are still fighting in the south? After conquering 25,000 miles of difficult roads, nothing brings down the red army soldiers; therefore, creating a new world. This emotional outburst inspired Mao Ze Dong to write down this poem that will be passed down with time.
