ZHONG CHENG

荒木經惟 ARAKI NOBUYOSHI ( b.1940)

Araki Nobuyoshi was born in Tokyo Japan, he is a renowned Japanese photographer and Contemporary artist. He first engaged in photography in University. He graduated from the film and photography department of Chiba University in 1963. He then worked at Dentsu advertising agency. He released over 350 publications during his artistic career, and the number is growing each year. The theme of his work is strongly associated with erotica. His wife Yoko plays an important role in his art, she is often the muse and inspiration of his many photo series and books, a record of the life they shared. Nobuyoshi once said, ‘Taking a photograph is as natural as breathing, photograph is life, and life is a sentimental journey.’ His most famous publication includes “Sentimental Journey”, “Tokyo Lucky Hole”, “Shino”. American director Travis Klose also made a documentary based on the artist’s life, titled “Arakimentari.”
