Pierre-Yves Trémois, born in Paris, France, is a sculptor and visual artist known for his work in engraving, sculpture, charcoal, oil painting, ceramics, and more. His love for literature is reflected in his use of rich poetry within his creations, and his fascination with prehistoric art forms the basis of his exploration into the aesthetics of procreation and life existence. His polished bronze sculptures exude a glamorous, dazzling effect, with pure, solemn, and powerful lines that prompt reflection on the origins of humanity. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in France and in the studio of the French painter Fernand Sabatté. In 1943, he won the Grand Prix de Rome for painting. In 1993, he participated in UNESCO's conference "Forms for the Twenty-First Century." In 2010, he established the Association of Friends of Pierre-Yves Trémois and the Trémois Foundation.
Recent major solo exhibitions include: "Trémois, Confronting the Body" (2017, Paris, France, University of Paris, Paris Descartes School), "Between Art and Science" (2017, Paris, France, Museum of the History of Medicine, Paris Descartes University, Florence, Italy, Academy of Art and Design), "Trémois Retrospective - Le Fou du Trait" (2019, Paris, France, Cordeliers Convent), "Trémois Retrospective - Les Grands Livres Illustrés" (2019, Paris, France, Museum of the History of Medicine), "An Artist, A Century" (2023, Seine-Maritime, France, Musée Michel-Ciry). Recent group exhibitions include: "The Institute" (1986, Paris, France, Musée Jacquemart-André), "Women" (1986, Paris, France, Grand Palais), "Gold and Mythology" (1998, Paris, France, Grand Palais).
