D* Face (迪恩.斯托克頓) D* FACE (DEAN STOCKTON) ( b.1978 )

D*Face, whose real name is Dean Stockton, was born in 1978 in London. He is a prominent British street artist known for his use of spray paint, text, posters, and mixed media techniques. DFace combines popular culture with graffiti, infusing his work with social issues, black humor, and rebellious yet dreamy images that reflect his unique artistic vision.

From a young age, Stockton's exposure to art came through street graffiti. He has stated that many of his early ideas were inspired by the renowned American street art photographer Henry Chalfant. In an interview, he mentioned, "As a teenager, what inspired me was never what was in galleries but the graphics on skateboards, record covers, and T-shirt designs." His passion for skateboarding and the imagery featured in magazines like Thrasher sparked his interest in DIY skateboard sticker design, which was extremely popular among American teenagers. This eventually led him to take a series of illustration courses and become a freelance illustrator, marking the beginning of his journey in street art.

After rising to fame, D*Face's works often critique consumerism, materialism, the blind pursuit of fame and fortune, and the American Dream. Through a Pop Art style, he offers a critical and satirical view of society's obsession with celebrities, wealth, and materialistic values. His goal is to make people more aware of their surroundings and the realities of their lives.

Engaging with his works provides insight into his creative philosophy. Interestingly, some viewers may find themselves drawn to his ideas, leading to a sense of admiration. This dynamic between the creator and the observer is a core aspect of his artistic approach. D*Face aims to challenge social issues and remind viewers to maintain a sense of skepticism about everything around them, encouraging the development of independent thinking and the ability to discern truth from falsehood.
