Syozo Taniguchi, born in 1990, is an artist from Ehime Prefecture, Japan, who works and resides in Tokyo. He began holding solo exhibitions in 2013 and has participated in various art fairs and activities since then. In 2014, during the FOIL AWARD exhibition, he met renowned Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, who praised his work and later collaborated with him on several occasions. Taniguchi's creations span across sculpture, video, collage, canvas, and mixed media, and he is known for his childlike characters and whimsical fairy-tale-inspired styles.

 

Taniguchi enjoys infusing his works with symbolic meanings and vitality by integrating various creative mediums. He repurposes discarded materials, transforming them into art pieces with sustainable value. This approach adds a dramatic and emotional resonance to his works, prompting viewers to consider significant themes and issues, including the waste of resources and the negative impact on the environment. Recently, he has gained recognition not only in Japan but also internationally, attracting considerable attention in the contemporary art market.
