金澤修 KANESAWA SYU ( b.1992 )

Syu Kanesawa, born in 1992 in Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a rising artist in the contemporary art scene in Japan. Due to his passion and dedication to ceramics, he took a hiatus from the Industrial Design program at Tokyo Zokei University in 2013. After graduating from the Kasama Ceramic Institute in Ibaraki Prefecture in 2017, he built his own kiln.

Kanesawa's artistic philosophy revolves around the connections between individuals, metaphorically likening these connections to encounters with extraterrestrial beings. By creating an imagined life form called "Contactor," he replaces personal interactions with others. Kanesawa's works inspire deep reflections on contemporary art and interpersonal communication through their unique visual and emotional impact.
