ZHONG CHENG

王仁傑 WANG RENJYE ( b.1962 )

Wang Renjye, born in 1962 in Taichung, graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts in 1986. In the early stages of his career, he primarily focused on realistic photography-based creations. During his student years, he co-founded the Taipei Painting Group, becoming a leading figure in Taiwan's art scene in the 1980s and spearheading the New Art Movement. In 1990, he went to Paris, France, for further studies, and the experience in a foreign land profoundly influenced his artistic style. His paintings gradually shifted toward lyrical abstraction, showcasing a unique fusion of Eastern freehand elements and Western abstraction. He skillfully integrated Eastern calligraphic lines into Western compositions, presenting rich and profound artistic content.
