From 1996 to 1997, he served as an overseas research student at the Ministry of Culture in Bangkok, and in 1998, he was dispatched to Lot-et-Garonne, France, as part of Art Scope '98. Takanobu Kobayashi excels at capturing the atmospheric essence of objects and scenes in their tangible states, using a pure and simple form of representation. His paintings are characterized by a serene, understated color palette, as if bathed in gentle sunlight and the light breeze is scattered throughout every corner of the canvas. Deep-seated emotions are conveyed slowly and subtly within the painting. Each object possesses its own characteristics and attributes, which are the sources of meaning. When the meaning is stripped away, the essence is revealed. Every object carries its own emotional character and qualities, imbued with the atmosphere of its environment. Takanobu Kobayashi, through the unique materiality of these objects, describes the innermost perceptions, embodying the concept of "object-space" and signifying a portrayal of "existence."
