齊藤智史 SATOSHI SAITOH ( b.1982 )

Satoshi Saitoh, born in 1982, grew up in a horticultural family in Nagano, Japan. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of Tokyo Zokei University. His early exposure to the world of gardening created a deep emotional connection with trees, particularly camphor trees, which are the primary subject of his artwork. Satoshi Saitoh transforms his inspiration from nature and his perception of the world and self into delightful idol sculptures. He uses traditional Japanese pigments and gray to add color to his works.

Saitoh's artistic portfolio includes tranquil and serene sculptures as well as abstract three-dimensional works. In 2020, he began showcasing two-dimensional works, which align closely with the choice of materials and creative process of his three-dimensional pieces. This expansion into flat artworks represents a direction he will continue to explore in the future.

In recent years, Satoshi Saitoh's woodcarvings have gained significant attention in the Asian art market. They have quickly gained popularity in Asia and have been exhibited in places like South Korea and Taiwan, garnering the appreciation of many collectors.
