陳尚平 Chen Shang Ping (b.1963)

Chen Shang Ping was born in 1963 in Shalu, Taichung, and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the National Da-Jia Senior High School's Fine Arts and Crafts program. His sculptural works have continuously evolved and grown throughout his career, and he has consistently explored the possibilities of space and medium in art.

From early clay and bronze sculptures to his own creation of straw pressing molds, and more recently, white sculptures, he has been tirelessly challenging various forms of presentation and improvement. With rich experience, he has participated in sculpture camps in Austria, Hungary, Romania, and other places, won various sculpture awards, and exhibited his works in various places. His works have been collected by the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and in 2017, he held a solo exhibition titled "Origin Paradise."

Chen Shang Ping is passionate about exploring communication between living beings and fascinated by the desire in human emotions. He once said, "Desire is an abyss; it is a pair of captured wings, and love is a kind of flight." For him, sculpture is an extension of his self and his soul, touching on the past, present, and future, and closely connected with many aspects of his life.
