Hirokazu Ichii born in 1980 in Kobe, Japan, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with a degree in sculpture in 2004 and a master's degree two years later. His sculpture style is gentle, with serene expressions that are full of emotional power. Just like a fairy tale book, the wood he works with takes on a myriad of shapes, sometimes depicting a girl covered in rainbows, or a boy surrounded by towering mountains. His attention to detail is remarkable, from the patterns on shorts to the flowers on a skirt, each carving is a work of art that merges the innocence of childhood with the emotions of adulthood, creating a unique and soothing experience for the viewer's visual and emotional senses.
Having exhibited extensively since 2008 in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nara, he actively participates in exhibitions and art fairs in both Taiwan and Japan. In 2004, he was awarded the Salon de Printemps prize, and in 2013, he won the Taiwan International Woodcarving Competition, with the winning piece now housed at the San Yi Wood Sculpture Museum.
