TIDE (井出達弘) TIDE (IDE TATSUHIRO) (b.1984)

Ide Tatsuhiro, known as TIDE, is a contemporary artist from Japan, born in 1984. His signature style features a retro American cartoon aesthetic with black and white tones, combined with a cute yet edgy black cat. His works are diverse, ranging from two-dimensional paintings to three-dimensional installations. The black cat in his works often appears expressionless, but its actions reveal its emotions, sometimes innocently holding a teddy bear, and at other times, sulking with crossed arms on a bed. Each piece provides an opportunity to know the black cat better. His exhibitions have been held worldwide, including cities such as New York, Tokyo, Seoul, and London.

TIDE's creations constantly play between light and darkness, humor and seriousness, and innocence and melancholy, creating a unique and contrasting tone in his works. Regarding his minimalist color selection, he explains, "I don't consider color because I like to express the beauty of the contour. The contour becomes blurred with color, and the impact is lost."
