MADSAKI MADSAKI (b.1974)

MADSAKI was born in Osaka in 1974, and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 6. He graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. In his early years, he joined the New York art team Barnstormers led by David Ellis, where he engaged in sculpture and graffiti creation. Through this process, he gradually changed his previous understanding and gained new insights. Soon after, he began to use the name MADSAKI in the art world. He is represented by several international art galleries, including Galerie Perrotin and Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo, and has held multiple solo exhibitions worldwide.

Growing up in a bicultural environment due to his immigration background, his childhood was influenced by American TV stars and Japanese cartoons, which contained conflicting yet profound emotions for him. This led him to create his own philosophy of art: "I want to mix everything that was meaningful to me during that period together." MADSAKI believes that humorous art is where the fun lies, whether it's fine artwork or large-scale installation murals, he uses witty ways to stimulate our reflection on various stereotypes and social phenomena in our daily lives.
