Futura Futura (b.1955)

Leonard Hilton McGurr, known as Futura, was born in New York in 1955. He is a famous American graffiti artist, illustrator, and fashion designer. He began creating graffiti art in the 1970s and is considered one of the pioneers of the street art movement. In the late 1980s to early 1990s, he became one of the representative figures of New York street culture.

 

Futura's style is unique and combines traditional graffiti elements with abstract expressionist painting techniques to create a contemporary and modern style. His works often feature elements such as stripes, arrows, spheres, and geometric shapes. He not only creates graffiti art on the streets but has also participated in many commercial collaborations. His works have been collaborated with well-known brands such as Nike, Levi's, Converse, etc., to create many popular fashion products. In addition, he has also designed illustrations for album covers and music videos for musicians such as The Clash, The Beastie Boys, and others.

 

Futura's works have been exhibited in art exhibitions and museums around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, and others. His works are highly regarded by audiences worldwide and are widely collected.
