Josh Sperling was born in 1984 in Ossining, New York, USA. He is an artist who experiments with both painting and sculpture, drawing inspiration from the minimalist paintings of the 1960s and 1970s. Through abstract shapes and saturated colors, and sometimes incorporating conflicting colors, he has created a highly individual and recognizable style. Using graphic design software to generate interlocking numerical shapes, and then producing them from glued boards using high-tech automated milling machines, he achieves a level of perfection that cannot be achieved by hand.
Josh Sperling's work blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture, image and object, in three-dimensional space, breaking down basic spatial definitions. Drawing inspiration from design and art history, and various fields, he creates a unique visual experience, known for its exceptional expressiveness and unstoppable energy.
