Javier Calleja was born in 1971 in Málaga, Spain, and completed his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Granada University in 2000. He currently lives and works in Málaga. Calleja likes to showcase the emotions and experiences gathered from everyday life in his signature big-eyed boy. His artistic style is simple, playful and harmonious; inspired by cartoons, pop art and surrealism. The artist invites the viewers to a surprising and humorous world of disproportionate sizes that evoke the world of Alice in Wonderland. He is very active in Europe and Asia, with many solo exhibitions across major European cities.
