ZHONG CHENG

豬熊克芳 KATSUYOSHI INOKUMA (b.1951)

Katsuyoshi Inokuma was born in Fukushima, Japan in 1951, he received his Master’s degree from Yokohama Institute of Fine Arts. In 1972, he returned to his hometown and eagerly participated in all local art events and art movements. His earlier style was strongly influenced by the works of Rembrandt and Surrealist artists. In 1990’s, Inokuma began to develop his own artistic style and approach. He created a series of works based on only blue-tones, the series was titled “In Blue,” it was highly praised by international and Japanese critics. Inokuma’s impressive world of blue causes strong resonance with visitors. He won the Aoki Shigeru Memorial Award in 1996, and semi-grand prize at Fukushima Prefectural Art Exhibition in 1998. His works were shown all around the world, including: “Art Basel” (2016, Hong Kong, Art Central); “Katsuyoshi Inokuma: Ultimate Blue” (2016, Hong Kong, White Stone Gallery); “Katsuyoshi Inokuma: Cosmic View of Earth” (2018, Hong Kongm White Stone Gallery).
