Zhou was born in Hubei and graduate from Wuchang Institution of Art in 1931. He participated in the first national exhibition of art in 1934 which was well received. in 1984, his oil paintings have been exhibited at Guangzhou's 35th Annual Art Exhibition. In 1987, Zhou also joined China Contemporary oil Painting Exhibition in New York.
