ZHONG CHENG

會田誠 AIDA MAKOTO (b.1965)

Born in Niigata, Japan. Makoto finished graduate studies in oil painting from Tokyo National University. He has held a number of solo exhibitions from 1993 to the present and participated in nearly 150 joint exhibitions in major cities in Japan and abroad, including New York, London, Paris, Berlin, and Barcelona. “It’s a Man’s Alcoholic Drink-Millennium and Ground Zero Japan”, 1999, Tokyo Contemporary Art Gallery; “Cartier pour l’art contemporary”, 2002, Paris; “Babel 2002”, 2002, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea. His works were shown at Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe. Between 2004-2008, he was featured in more solo exhibitions in US, UK and Japan. Makoto’s intense style has made him the most prominent yet controversial artist in contemporary Japan and has brought many opportunities for international activity.
