Ian Quirante was born in the Philippines and graduated top of class from College of Arts & Sciences, University of the Philippines. He became a full-time painter in 2003 and has engaged in painting ever since. His works are surrealistic and express one’s mental state through “automatic technique.” His spatial arrangement, choice of eye-catching patterns, biological symbols, and illusive expressions effectively capture the human subconscious mind. He is one of the few young contemporary Filipino artists that engage in surrealistic themes.
