Born in Hangzhou in the Zhejiang. Was a painter known for his flower and bird subjests, landscapes and portraits. In his early career, Tang served as an apprentice to a number of traditional artists and taught painting in middle schools. After moving to Shanghai, he continued to teach at the Xinhua Art Training School and the Shanghai Fine Art Training School.
