ZHONG CHENG

關良 GUAN LIANG (1900-1986)

Born in Guandong, China. Guan loved to paint when he was a child. Between 1918 and 1923, he decided to engage in Western painting when he was attending Pacific Academy of Art in Tokyo. In 1926, he returned to China was responsible for propaganda during the Sino-Japanese War. Later, he took teaching posts at different place, including Shanghai Academy of Fine Art. On the one hand, he spent his time in Western painting; on the other hand, he studied water-ink painting in Peking Opera. In the 40s and 50s, he held various exhibitions in most of the major cities in China, In 1957, invited by Berlin Academy, he hold a exhibition in Germany.
