Chien Changta was born in Pintung, Taiwan. He graduated from the master’s program at the Beijing Normal University of Art and Media. He won many awards including nomination by the 34th Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition (1979); nomination at the Contemporary Art Exhibition (1985); Honorary Award at the National Oil Painting Exhibition (1985); Quality award at the Tai-Yang Art Exhibition (1985, 86, 89); Silver medal at the Tai-Yang Art Exhibition (1987, 88, 90). He was taught by renowned artists Li Shiqiao, Chen Jingrong, and Yang Sanlang. His artistic style is bold and confident. He currently serves as a member of the Tai-Yang Art Association, member of the Republic of China Oil Painting Society, and oil painting instructor at National Taiwan University. His artworks art in the collection of many national and international institutes and foundations. His recent exhibitions include “Chieh Changta Solo Exhibition” (1991, Taipei, Tamkang University); “Light and Color Oil Painting Solo Exhibition” (2001, Taipei, Cathay Pacific Art Center); “Spiritual Scenery Solo Exhibition” (2010, Taipei, Cathay Pacific Art Center). In 2007, he was invited to participate in the “50th Anniversary of Japan’s New Image Exhibition” held by Nagoya City Art Museum, also the “30th Anniversary of Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Exhibition” in the same year and the “Taiwan Los Angeles Art Exchange Exhibition” in 2016.
