Born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, Lai was admitted to Musashino Art University in 1943. He returned to Taoyuan serving as an art teacher at the junior high school after World War II. He has won many awards, held plenty of exhibitions and published abundant books so far. Between 1957 and 1973, Lai successively won 27 awards in the Taiyan and Provincial exhibitions. Exhibition:
“Salon d'Automne”, France, Grand Palais, 1991; “Lai Chuan-Chien: 80th Anniversary Retrospective”, Taipei, Taiwan, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2009. From 1967 to 2002, His solo exhibitions were held up to 19.
